How do I know if my phone is unlocked?

Your phone's carrier lock status affects your device's value. Here's how to find out if it's unlocked or carrier locked so you get the right price.

To determine your phone’s carrier:

  • Go to Settings and then About Phone (for iPhone users, you can find this under General).
  • Look for Carrier, Carrier Lock, Network, or Network Provider.
  • If you see No SIM Restrictions or SIM Unlocked, your phone is Unlocked. If you see a carrier name like AT&T, Verizon, or T-Mobile, your phone is locked to a carrier.
  • If you see No SIM Restrictions or SIM Unlocked, your phone is Unlocked. If you see a carrier name like Rogers Wireless, Bell Mobility, or Telus Mobility, your phone is locked to a carrier.

To determine your phone’s carrier:

  • Then look for Carrier, Carrier Lock, Network, or Network Provider. Here you’ll see your phone’s carrier listed.
  • If you see “No SIM Restrictions” or “SIM Unlocked”, your phone is Unlocked and can be used on any carrier.
