The Environmental Equation

ecoATM Environmental Commitment

ecoATM is committed to supporting the highest environmental standards in the industry. We are actively involved in multiple standards and certifications bodies, are committed to the R2 and related ISO processes, and support the principles of the Basel Convention. ecoATM’s Environmental Policy is specifically designed to preclude issues such as dumping of toxic materials into the developing world by establishing patented advance diagnostic systems, audits of downstream vendors and market coordination to minimize product speculation and to maximize product reuse. Should materials be determined to be only marginally re-useful, we proactively destroy them and reclaim their materials to ensure maximized benefits to the environment and human health.

Green - The Environmental Equation

In the Making of Phones 1 Phone >3 tons mining waste
In the Disposal of Phones 75,000 tons into landfills annually - Arsenic, Cadmium, Mercury

ecoATM (Anti)-Carbon Policy

ecoATM is committed to being a Carbon Negative company – going beyond neutrality to actually removing it from our environment. Our activities protect the environment by keeping toxic waste out of landfills and maximizing legitimate product reuse, mitigating the need for additional resource mining. Our streamlined operations mean that we collect and move materials more efficiently than other systems, and we prove our beneficial impact on the environment every single day by measuring the removal of carbon and toxic waste from the environment.

ecoATM (Pro)-Tree Planting Policy

We here at ecoATM love trees, they help keep the planet cooler, look good, and keep our air clean. So we plant lots of them. For all phones collected, good or bad, ecoATM makes ongoing donations to a variety of organizations that plant trees supporting sustainability throughout the hemisphere… Some of our partners to date include Sustainable Harvest International, and Trees For The Future.

More than $12B in unused phones can be collected, with an additional $5B every year. The challenge is improving recycle rates, which can be accomplished with consumer convenience and financial incentives.
