ecoATM - Technologists solving the eWaste problem
We helped create the problem and now we are going to help fix it. ecoATM was founded by technologists who have helped create and launch many consumer electronic products. We decided in 2008 to engineer a solution to the growing eWaste problem created by these products. The mantra of smaller, better, faster has created an explosive turnover rate that has resulted in huge volumes of used, but still valuable devices cluttering our drawers and landfills around the globe. The existing collection methods for these devices were woefully inadequate and lacked the convenience and incentive required to inspire mass consumer participation in reselling and recycling which is required to solve this problem. Charity boxes, online mail-in websites, and even point-of-sale buy-back systems have been around for years but collectively they have made only a small dent in the problem.
ecoATM's system finally meets the required threshold of convenience to the consumer, combined with the required threshold of immediate cash incentive in order to inspire mass consumer participation in solving the eWaste problem.
