San Diego, Calif. – Despite growth and widespread accessibility of recycling programs, 62 percent of Americans still admit to throwing away recyclable items. Take a cue from these kiddos – recycle your gadgets and help protect our planet.

What gets thrown away that could be recycled?

According to a recent survey* from ecoATM, Inc. of the 62 percent of Americans who admit to tossing items that could be recycled, here are the most common:

  • Batteries (44 percent)
  • Clothes (38 percent)
  • Ink Cartridges (24 percent)
  • Coins (6 percent)
  • Cell phones (8 percent)
What do kids know about e-Waste?

ecoATM asked some of its youngest fans specifically about e-Waste and their responses may surprise you. When asked what will happen if the bad things in phones end up in a landfill, the kids replied:

  • It could explode
  • It might make an earthquake
