The FPCA’s Pillars of Success Award

The FPCA’s Pillars of Success Award recognizes men and women who previously served as law enforcement officers and who now serve in private sector security-related positions. The award recipient, Chief Doug Muldoon, served 38 years with the Palm Bay Police Department, retiring in January 2015. Three days later he started as the Director of Law Enforcement Relations with ecoATM, a company dedicated to forging partnerships with law enforcement agencies.

In May of 2017 Doug was honored by the Florida Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates by having the newly created “Member of the Year” award named after him. A quote from President Tim Cannon “Doug’s national and international achievements, along with representation of the FBI National Academy Associates, is held in the highest regard in the Florida Chapter.”

Partnering With Law Enforcement

Our commitment to and collaboration with law enforcement is unparalleled across the buyback industry and a partnership we’re very proud of. We have invested a significant amount of effort and resources, while listening to our law enforcement partners, to implement several layers of technology and processes to reduce the likelihood that an ecoATM® kiosk will buy a stolen device. In communities all across the country, ecoATM is helping law enforcement identify and capture cell phone thieves and reunite victims of cell phone theft with their stolen property.

Security Features and Processes
A remote attendant verifies and approves every transaction through the cameras in real-time. The cameras also capture multiple images of sellers.

Where required by law, we equip our kiosks with NIST compliant bio metric devices to capture a valid thumbprint. The thumbprint is included on each transaction report we provide to law enforcement.

The serial numbers of valuable devices are collected and verified through the service CheckMEND** to confirm a device hasn’t been reported lost or stolen in that database.

A valid government issued ID is required for every transaction. Photos of the actual ID are captured and added to every transaction report.

The list is tailored to law enforcement needs and can include customer bans and flags of customers and/or devices.
