Here's What You Missed At The 2021 Apple Event
Another year, another exciting Apple Event! If you weren't able to tune in for the live stream, no need to stress. Here are the big announcements from the 2021 Apple Event for your favorite Apple devices.
Apple TV+
Apple TV took off in 2007 as a digital media appliance. It has now grown into a full streaming service with exclusive Apple Original shows and movies. It has earned over 35 primetime Emmy nominations and continues to make waves with all new releases this fall. Stay tuned for more announcements on Apple Original series.
iPad & iPad Mini
The Apple iPad has been a longstanding crowd favorite for a personal tablet. This year, not only do we see two revamped models, but we also see an enhanced iPadOS that boasts better multi-tasking controls, upgraded apps and the introduction of widgets.
The new iPad features an A13 Bionic Chip and has 20% faster performance compared to last year's model. It also features the iPad Pro feature of Center Stage that uses machine learning technology to recognize the person in frame and keep them centered. The new 2021 iPad has also kept a similar design so that all previously released accessories are accommodating.
The new iPad Mini has gone through a nice makeover, making it one of the stars of this year's event. It features a Liquid Retina Display and Touch ID. With a redesigned camera system, the new iPad Mini also incorporates the Center Stage feature. It's available in five colors and enclosed in 100% recycled aluminum.
The new iPad is available starting at $329 and can be ordered today for next week availability. The new iPad Mini is available for $499 and can also be ordered today for pickup next week.
Apple Watch
We were introduced today to the Apple Watch Series 7, a wearable we've come to love over the last few years. This model includes a few major upgrades such as a new larger design, enhanced durability, upgraded Retina display, faster charging and more. The Apple Watch Series 7 comes in five new colors and includes a new IP6X rating for the front glass. The always-on display allows for better brightness indoors. The new wearable also includes WatchOS 8 which also includes bike tracking.
The Apple Watch Series 3, a previous model, is now available from $199. The Apple Watch Series SE is available from $279, and the new Apple Watch Series 7 will be available from $399 later this fall.
Fitness+
Apple also announced the expansion of its Apple Fitness+ service at this year's event. The streaming service will now include new workouts for those at any fitness level, including new guided meditations and workouts. Fitness+ includes real-time connection with Apple Watch and will expand to availability in 15 countries this fall. Apple is offering a 1 month free trial or 3 months free with the purchase of an Apple Watch.
iPhone 13 & iPhone 13 Mini
We've all been waiting very patiently for the release of this year's latest iPhone model. The iPhone 13 was announced today with some design and camera upgrades that are certain to get some phone photographers VERY excited.
The new iPhone 13 and iPhone mini both feature the new A15 Bionic Chip. This chip has 15 billion transistors, a 6-core GPU and is 50% faster than any other leading smartphone on the market. It also provides 30% faster graphics. The models also provide longer lasting battery and more storage options. The updated camera system includes two diagonally stacked cameras with better light-gathering technology.
The iPhone 13 is available in 5G compatibility and starts at $799 while the iPhone 13 Mini is available for $699 with preorders starting Friday.
iPhone 13 Pro & iPhone 13 Pro Max
Following the new iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 Mini models was the announcement of the two upgraded high level models, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. Available in five new colors, the Pro models also feature the new A15 Bionic Chip with the fastest speed of any smartphone available. It also features three upgraded cameras with the addition of a 77 telephoto camera and allows for up-close-and-personal macro photography. The display on both is a Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion technology. The battery life is set to last longer than the iPhone 12.
Apple has been working hard towards achieving their environmental goals and has eliminated any plastic wrap for the production of their new iPhone models. They have also engineered the iPhone outer casing to be made of 100% recycled aluminum.
The iPhone 13 Pro is starts at $999 and the iPhone 13 Pro Max is available for $1099 with preorders starting Friday.
