In addition to our commitment to the R2 and ISO 14001 processes, ecosystem, and certifications, ecoATM is active in a variety of industry organizations focused on evolving eWaste legislation and defining best practices for the industry including the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and the Electronics Recycling Coordination Clearinghouse (ERCC) where we are a founding member since 2010.

Why Is It Important To Recycle Used Electronics?
In the Making of Phones 1 Phone >3 tons of toxic mining waste is generated just for the required precious metals
In the Disposal of Phones 75,000 tons into landfills annually - Arsenic, Cadmium, Mercury

What Is The Scale Of The eWaste Problem?
  • 1 box car will hold about 75,000 phones.
  • 150M phones shipped annually in US.
  • That's 2000 box cars of phones annually.
  • That's a single train 20 miles long.
  • That's phones alone.
  • How many more box cars for PCs, Cameras, iPods, and TVs?
  • Remember the 3 tons of mining waste per phone?

ecoATM (Pro)-Tree Planting Policy
We here at ecoATM love trees, they help keep the planet cooler, look good, and keep our air clean. So we plant lots of them. As we collect more devices, good or bad, ecoATM makes ongoing donations to a variety of organizations that plant trees supporting sustainability throughout the hemisphere. Our preferred partners is Trees For The Future in Haiti which plants deforested areas.
