Tom Tullie, Chief Executive Officer, President and Chairman
Tom Tullie has 23 years of experience in semiconductors, systems, computing and software, 13 of which were in executive management. He has a proven track record of successfully building leading-edge technology companies, as evidenced by his success as Chief Operating Officer of Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC), a broad-based provider of integrated circuits and printed circuit board assemblies for a range of optical transport, switching, routing and storage networking solutions. During his tenure at AMCC, Mr. Tullie also led the company’s sales, marketing and operations organizations, including building AMCC’s international channels of sales and distribution; he was also General Manager of the Communications Division. Mr. Tullie led or was involved in 13 acquisitions and was an essential member of the executive team which took the company public and raised $1 billion in secondary offerings. Before joining ecoATM, Mr. Tullie was CEO of Vativ Technologies, a leading provider of advanced DSP-based semiconductor communications solutions, which was acquired by Entropic Communications, Before Vativ, Mr. Tullie was the CEO of Path 1 Network Technologies, a leading provider of IP video transport products to broadcasters, satellite operators, cable multi-system operators (MSOs), and telecom operators, which was acquired by IP Video Networks. Previous to AMCC, Mr. Tullie was Director of Sales for S-MOS Systems, the U.S. subsidiary of Seiko Epson and before that a Design Engineer at Digital Equipment Corporation.
Mr. Tullie earned a B.S.E.E. from the University of Massachusetts and an M.B.A. from Clark University.
Mark Bowles, Chief Marketing Officer, Founder
Mark Bowles grew up in Southeast Texas but moved to California in 1987 and now lives in San Diego with his wife and 3 boys (Katie, Miles, Marshal, and Kasey). Mark has more than 23 years in the semiconductor and wireless industries. He has been involved in the formation and funding of six technology start-ups and has successfully raised 15 rounds of Venture Capital financing totaling more than $150 million; he has been part of some successful financial exits for these investors. Prior to ecoATM, he was with Vativ (sold to Entropic) as Vice President, Marketing and Business Development. Before Vativ, Mr. Bowles co-founded Staccato in 2002 and was Vice President, Marketing and Business Development where he helped build the ultrawideband (UWB) industry from scratch. Prior to Staccato he was co-founder, President, COO and director of BOPS, Inc. (sold to Altera), a broadband DSP cores and tools company. Prior to BOPS, he was instrumental in forming and/or funding a number of successful start-ups including Power Computing (sold to Apple in 1996); Panorama Designs (sold to Motorola in 1996); and BlueSteel Networks (sold to Broadcom in 2000). Mr. Bowles also spent six years at Motorola Semiconductor where he held various distribution management, sales and market development positions; he left in 1996 as Vice President MSPI, and PowerPC market development.
Mr. Bowles has been an active IEEE member in 802.15.3a, 802.15.4a, 802.11n, and a founding member of MBOA (marketing chair), Board member of WiMedia Alliance (Liaison to China Chapter), and key contributor to Certified Wireless USB. He also has 1 patent granted in kiosk technology, 5 pending in kiosk technology, and 1 pending in wireless authentication.
Mr. Bowles has been an invited speaker, keynote, or panelists in dozens of industry conferences on DSPs, wireless, UWB, and social networking. He has also been a guest lecturer on entrepreneurism and innovation at Duke, Stanford, UCSD, USD, Pepperdine, and Harvard. He has also authored more than a dozen published articles in the past decade.
Mr. Bowles holds an undergraduate degree in Industrial Distribution from Texas A&M University, and a Master of Science in Technology Management (eMBA) from Pepperdine University. Mark is also a member of the Pepperdine Board of Visitors and an Advisory Board member for the University of San Diego's Center for Peace and Commerce.
Robert Genthert, Chief Financial Officer, Founding Team
Bob Genthert brings more than 30 years of executive management and finance experience to his role as Chief Financial Officer at ecoATM, Inc. Prior to joining ecoATM, Inc., Mr. Genthert served as CFO and held senior executive positions for several companies including SKY Mobilemedia, the DVD kiosk company, The New Release, Caliber Holdings and Teletech Holdings where he successfully raised debt and equity financing cumulating more than $100 million. He served as CFO for Warner Bros. Online and New Media divisions and was the finance lead at Warner Bros. that established the joint ventures; MovieLink and the Digital Cinema Initiative. During his tenure at the Walt Disney Company, Mr. Genthert held many positions of increasing responsibility, ultimately serving as Vice President of Worldwide Finance for Disney's $4 billion Buena Vista Home Entertainment division.
Mr. Genthert earned his undergraduate degree in accounting with an emphasis in IT from Radford University in Radford, Virginia. Mr. Genthert is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of California.
John A. Beane, Vice President, Engineering, Founding Team
John Beane has been involved with San Diego startups for more than 20 years, over 14 of which have been in executive management positions. He was an original member of local companies such as Pyxis Corporation (now CareFusion), Bridge Medical (acquired by Cerner), CardioNow (acquired by Agfa), and Asteres Inc., where he was co-founder. These organizations raised in excess of $100 million in venture funding and resulted in exits totaling more than $1 billion. In these ventures, Mr. Beane has been tasked with inventing technology which does not exist for markets that have yet to be established. He considers the mentoring and motivating of the teams that build these systems with him among his competencies and certainly among his pleasures.
Mr. Beane holds five US patents. One in a medical video image capture system that stores these images in the cloud and provides streaming worldwide. The remaining four patents are specific to automated kiosk technology. Mr. Beane expects a European patent for kiosk technology to issue soon. Additionally, John has four patents pending in the US and five foreign patents pending in the EU, Canada and Hong Kong.
Mr. Beane was educated at the University of New Hampshire, where he holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Computer Science with a Minor in Spanish.
Eric Rosser, Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Founding Team
Eric Rosser has more than 22 years in engineering management and sales. Before joining ecoATM, Mr. Rosser was Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Leadis, a leading vendor of analog IC's for portable electronics. Before joining Leadis, he was Vice President of Sales at Staccato Communications, an ultrawideband (UWB) semiconductor company. Before Staccato, Mr. Rosser was President and CEO of Arampa, a manufacturer of application intelligent access routers. In 1997, he joined Allot an IP QoS company, and as President, helped grow the company from an early stage start-up to more than 120 employees with thousands of customers. Prior to Allot, Mr. Rosser managed Asia and Latin America for Tekelec (Nasdaq:TKLC). He has also held a variety of sales and engineering positions with Data General and DMR.
Mr. Rosser holds a bachelor degree in engineering from Harvey Mudd College.
Rick Segil, Vice President of Operations
Rick Segil brings more than 25 years’ of operational and product launch experience from several high-technology fields, including digital video, wireless and broadband communications.
Before joining ecoATM as VP Operations, Segil worked at Ethertronics, a leading OEM cellular antenna supplier as Chief Operating Officer, GM for Americas and VP, Marketing at a time when the firm achieved #52 on the Inc 500 fastest growing companies list. Additional startup experience was gained as VP Marketing for Path1 Networks, a Video over IP gateway equipment provider for the broadcast television industry. Additionally, Segil has held various marketing, business development and general management positions with Gateway Computer, Leap/Cricket Wireless, ViaSat and General Instrument (now Motorola Mobility).
Segil holds a bachelor's degree in physics and economics from Claremont McKenna College.
